Legend codes for land cover and land use maps for each MapBiomas collection

Collection 2

Land Cover and Land Use

Transition maps

Transition maps have codes calculated by combining the codes of the first and second years, according to the following formula:

(year1 x 100) + year2

Example:

303 = forest that remained forest

315 = forest that became pasture

1515 = pasture that is maintained as pasture

Loss of vegetation and secondary vegetation

The value of each pixel is calculated using the following formula:

(“Deforestation class”) * 100 + (“Land use class ID”)

 This means:

115 = anthropogenic in the grassland class

203 = primary vegetation in the forest class

212 = primary vegetation in the grassland formations class

303 = secondary vegetation in the forest class

404 = removal of primary vegetation from the savanna class

503 = recovery to secondary vegetation in the forest class

604 = removal of secondary vegetation in the savanna class

703 = transition noise (all classes above 700 should be discarded)

Deforestation classes: (1, 2, 3 and 4)
